Anti-repression congress in Leipzig: Together against the authoritarian trend
Leipzig, 21.03.2024
The fight for freedom and against repression is the focus of the upcoming Anti-Repression Congress, which will take place in Leipzig from 12 to 14 April 2024. In view of the increasing restriction of civil liberties and an alarming rise in authoritarian tendencies in various areas of society, the congress offers the opportunity to gather information, network and explore ways of decisively countering this trend. “We are observing a steady increase in the restriction of civil liberties, arbitrary actions by the so-called security authorities and right-wing networks within the judiciary, police and military,” explains organiser Lisa Loewe. “Our aim is to criticise the connection between increasing repression and the perpetuation of an authoritarian state and to raise awareness of this development. “The anti-repression congress will serve to promote networking between academia, civil society initiatives and activists and facilitate an important transfer of knowledge. By creating publicity and awareness, the aim is to enable classification in the political context of an authoritarian formation and a simultaneous shift to the right. “Our vision is a free society in which people live together in solidarity and find social and sustainable answers to conflicts instead of monitoring, punishing or excluding,” emphasises Florian Bach. “Together, we want to develop concrete perspectives on this.” The Anti-Repression Congress will take place from 12 to 14 April 2024 in Leipzig and offers a platform for sharing ideas, developing strategies and strengthening resistance against authoritarian tendencies. Anyone interested is cordially invited to take part in the congress and actively campaign for freedom and solidarity. For further information and enquiries, please contact:
